What we process and why
- Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
- Visitor statistics. We use PostHog (EU Cloud, servers in the EU) in cookieless mode to count page views, see which pages are useful and measure page speed (Core Web Vitals). It does not store anything in your browser: no cookies, no local or session storage. Visitors are counted with a privacy-preserving hash created on PostHog's servers, and IP addresses are anonymised. We do not record sessions and do not follow you across other websites. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful.
- Maps. When you scroll to a map, your browser loads map tiles and fonts from OpenFreeMap. Like any web server, it receives your IP address to send them.
- Your time zone stays on your device. We use your browser's time zone only to centre the world map on your part of the globe. It is not sent to us.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies. If that ever changes – for example if we add a newsletter or affiliate links – we will update this page first and ask for consent where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access, correct and erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Finland this is the Data Protection Ombudsman.
